New England Patriots QB Drake Maye spoke about his injury.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye is apparently dealing with a right shoulder injury.

With one day until their first practice for Super Bowl LX, the Patriots said Maye wouldn't have been a full participant had they practiced on Wednesday because of his banged-up right shoulder.

Maye was asked Tuesday during his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI if he had suffered a right shoulder injury during the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.

"I'm feeling good," Maye said. "Going to get some extra rest. I really don't think it was from the game, but just the build-up from throwing -- this is what, including training camp, 30 weeks of straight of throwing, four days a week. It can add up. I got some extra rest, feeling good, and ready to go for the Super Bowl."

Maye is expected to face the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, but it's evident he's dealing with some ailment. The Patriots are just being really sneaky about it.

"I think that everybody, including Drake, is not 100% at this part of the year," Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said. "We'll do everything that we can to help our players be prepared and get ready for this game.

"I wouldn't say that anybody hurt anything. Again, this is a sport where there's going to be things that come up, but I don't think that there's a – we'll talk about whatever status each player has for the game once we're required to. We understand that. But we were able to function offensively, throw the football, run the football. So, that's kind of where everybody's at."

Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes. He is a finalist for the AP Most Valuable Player Award.

The Patriots selected Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Maye has 6,670 passing yards and 46 passing touchdowns in the regular season.

Vrabel, who won three Super Bowls as a star linebacker for the Patriots, could become the first person in NFL history to also win as a head coach for the same franchise.

"I won't win it. It'll be the players that'll win the game," Vrabel said. "I promise you, it won't be me that'll win it, and I promise you that I'll do everything I can, and our staff, to have them ready for the game."
