Daniels is projected to be a late-round pick but is one of the many names who have visited the Patriots facilities in recent weeks.

The New England Patriots have one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. There is no denying that. Still, the team may be looking to add depth at quarterback after releasing backup Joshua Dobbs.

The Patriots re-signed Tommy DeVito to a two-year contract extension with a max value of $7.4 million and $2 million guaranteed.

Still, there is room on the roster for one more spot on the quarterback depth chart, either as a QB3 or someone to compete for the QB2 spot.

Someone the Patriots could potentially eye is Kansas QB Jalon Daniels, who paid a pre-draft visit to the team's facilities earlier this week. Daniels is the 19th reported visitor to a Top 30 meeting with the team and the only quarterback so far.

Daniels was at Kansas for six years. He appeared in 49 games and had 45 starts. He finished his run there with 9,282 yards and 67 touchdowns as a passer and also added 1,451 yards and 23 scores on the ground as a dual-threat quarterback.

Daniels was voted a team captain in his last two seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks and was named to the second All-Big 12 team in 2022.

Now let's talk about Daniels' flaws, which the Patriots and any other team that could be interested in his skills should consider.

In his two seasons as a full-time starter for the Jayhawks (2024 and 2025), he completed only 59.6% of his passes and threw 19 interceptions; he also fumbled the ball 18 times over that span.

Sometimes that's what you can get with a mobile dual-threat quarterback.

Still, Daniels has NFL-level talent in his size and skills. He's 6'1 ", 219 pounds, with a strong arm, mobility, and solid in-pocket decision-making.

If the Patriots wanted to, they could make a move in the draft for a quarterback, but it most likely won't come until around the seventh round, or even as an undrafted free agent.

Or, the Patriots may keep their eyes open in the free agent market and make the call to bring in a QB3 that way as well.
