Drake Maye is one win away from leading the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl in just his second NFL season.
Maye, who led the NFL in completion percentage this season, is a finalist for the MVP Award. It's been a magical campaign thus far for the UNC product.
However, Maye has to clean up one thing: turnovers. The talented QB has two interceptions and six fumbles in the playoffs thus far.
His coach, Mike Vrabel, spoke about that with reporters before the AFC Championship Game.
"We have to be able to not get careless with the football," Vrabel said. "We can't be reckless. And a lot of it is operation. I mean, we had two turnovers where we all weren't on the same page. And not only is it – you could have a negative play if you don't have everybody on the same page, but even worse, you lose the football.
"Or if you don't have somebody on the same page and they blitz, somebody gets hurt. So, those are the things we talk about when we're not on the same page. So, I think the operation is going to be critical."
The Denver Broncos have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Maye has to protect the ball against them. Otherwise, Denver could upset New England.
That's right, upset. Remember, the Patriots are favored to beat the Broncos on the road since Bo Nix is out.
"Back on the road in an AFC Championship game," Maye said. "That speaks for itself. I'm just trying to enjoy these playoff wins."
Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes. Thus far in the playoffs, Maye has 447 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, two interceptions and six fumbles.
If the Patriots beat the Broncos, they will face the Los Angeles Rams or Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Let's see if Maye can lead New England to the big game.
