If Diggs returns to New England, can the team pick up where they left off in 2025?

It seems former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs focused on his personal life in the first few months of the offseason.

His Instagram mostly featured posts about his training regimen and promoting his clothing line.

Diggs was released by the Patriots on day one of free agency, a move that many could see coming with what was going on off the field with him in terms of legal issues, as well as if his price tag going into year two of his contract was going to be too much for the team.

The former Patriot star now has his legal drama behind him after being found not guilty on charges stemming from a pay dispute with a personal chef who stated that the wide receiver choked and slapped them back in late 2025.

Diggs took to Instagram and made it known that he was on the move with a post that read: "This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers," Diggs posted. "I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?"

None other than Patriots star cornerback Christian Gonzalez left a comment on the post that read, "To the Pats."

Diggs' response? Some eyeball emojis, which are usually used to signal that a lot of attention is being paid to this matter.

It's been rumored for some time that Patriots VP of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf has left the door slightly open for Diggs to return to the team this season, as Wolf hinted at the idea after releasing him and also hinted at the fact that his release was more of a financial decision than one that had to do with Diggs' personal life.

Diggs was set to count $26.5 million against the salary cap on what was a part of his current contract in 2026. Many felt that if there were no restructuring in play when it came to his contract, both parties would part ways.

There is also the other looming question as we approach the month of June. The Patriots are very much in the A.J. Brown sweepstakes for a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles after June 1st.

If, by some miracle, both Diggs and Brown are on the Patriots this fall, that makes the team very dangerous as they look to head back to the Super Bowl this upcoming season.
