The New England Patriots have had a very busy offseason after losing the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks.
After parting ways with WR Stefon Diggs, the Patriots added former Green Bay Packers wideout Romeo Doubs and NFL analyst Moe Moton of Bleacher Report believes that Doubs is primed for a breakout 2026 NFL season.
"With Drake Maye's recent growth as a passer and the absence of a star playmaking receiver, Doubs should be in line for an uptick in targets," Moton wrote. "Barring New England trading for A.J. Brown, he's in a good spot to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time in his career."
Doubs appeared in 16 games for the Packers last season. He put up 55 catches for 724 and six touchdowns.
Green Bay selected Doubs with the 132nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He enters next season with 202 catches for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns.
"I felt like it was an opportunity I felt like I couldn't pass on in terms of just continuously staying grounded and growing on and off the field," Doubs said after signing with the Patriots. "I really believe this is the place where I can fulfill that."
The Patriots have one of the best starting QBs in the NFL in Drake Maye. The UNC product finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes.
Maye and Doubs could put up stellar numbers together next season in Josh McDaniels' offense.
Maye finished the Super Bowl with 295 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. It's reasonable to wonder how he would have played against the Seahawks had he not gotten hurt against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
"My arm was feeling great all year. I don't think throwing was the [issue]. It's a case of having one hit in the AFC Championship Game that was unfortunate timing," Maye said after the Super Bowl.
"You can't blame things on injuries. Things happen like this all the time in the league. I was blessed this year -- what a year of health. You can't zone in on one little thing on the shoulder -- it was just unfortunate that it happened to be the throwing one. At the same time, I could have prevented it or made more plays. I was feeling like I was able to make throws in the game and was myself."
Let's see if the Patriots can get back to the Super Bowl next season and win it all in Year 2 of the Mike Vrabel era.
