New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs has worked very hard to make his first Super Bowl.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs is finally in the Super Bowl.

After years of coming up short with the Buffalo Bills, Diggs -- in his first season with the Patriots -- is headed to the Super Bowl and the Pro Bowler is soaking it all in.

"I fought long and hard. It means the world to me," Diggs said after the Patriots beat the Denver Broncos. "I've been playing this game since I was five years old. I always wanted to be a champion, always wanted to be a Super Bowl champion. The opportunity is right there in front of us, and we’re one game away.

"For me, I've been in the league 11 years. I fell short so many times. I can't say nothing but perfect timing. I was coming off of an ACL injury. New team, new situation, new coaches, new teammates. It all happened exactly how it was supposed to. I appreciate everything."

Diggs played for the Houston Texans last season. He tore his ACL and many pundits thought the Patriots made a mistake adding him.

However, Diggs proved all of his doubters wrong. The veteran had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.

The Patriots will face the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl. With head coach Mike Vrabel leading the way, Diggs is confident.

“He stayed the same, consistent the whole time. When we lost to the Steelers, and we lost a couple of those games early. It was easy to count us out, put us in a spot where nobody believed in us. They don’t like us, for that matter. I felt like our coach believed in us," Diggs said of Vrabel. "He helped us build this identity that he speaks of. He held everybody to the same standard. It’s something I’m super thankful for. I realized it starts at the head.

"When you hold everybody to the same standard, and you hold everybody to the same requirements each and every day, you hold your teammates accountable. You start looking at your teammates and self-policing, self-accountability. You don’t want to let your teammates down. The comradery and the team chemistry that he’s built from the head coaching position, I hope he wins Coach of the Year.”
