Practices are set to take place at Gillette Stadium this summer.

Over the weekend, it was announced that the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles were in talks to hold joint preseason practices this summer.

Mike Reiss of ESPN reported that both Mike Vrabel and Nick Sirianni had been in contact on the matter, but the league had yet to approve it.

Speaking Monday at the NFL Annual League Meeting, Sirianni confirmed that the Pats and Eagles will hold joint practices. A preseason game has not been officially set between the two, but many feel it is just a matter of time before it is set in stone, as that is the usual nature of things when it comes to preseason joint practices.

The Patriots held joint practices under Vrabel before. In his first year as head coach, Vrabel's Patriots paired up with the Washington Commanders in summer 2025. The two teams faced off in the preseason opener.

Vrabel believed that joint practices were key to helping the team find its identity.

“The goal is just to be able to put the identity out on the field against another team,” Vrabel said last year regarding the practices, “to put the fundamentals that we put out there, the installation, to be able to do it against another defense, and to be able to adjust to different play styles of players, players that maybe are longer or quicker or stronger, just different play styles of each player throughout this league.”

This is not the first time the Patriots and the Eagles have met in the preseason. Back in 2024, when Jeron Mayo coached the Patriots and Drake Maye was a rookie, the teams held joint practices before meeting in the preseason.

This time around, there is a potential elephant in the room in wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The Eagles have made themselves open to trade talks this offseason for their star wide receiver. Throughout all those talks, the Patriots have been the one constant team.

A receiver like Brown could be key in elevating a QB like Maye. Time will tell which jersey Brown may or may not be wearing during these joint practices this summer.
