Surprise, Tom Brady topped yet another NFL list this week (he's been retired since January of 2023).
The seven-time Super Bowl champion and former New England Patriot quarterback is first in a lot of categories. He retired holding nearly every passing record in the NFL. His postseason record is 35-13, the best all-time. He has 89,214 passing yards (the most all-time) and 15 Pro Bowls.
Tom Brady is the most decorated professional football player of all time, but you already knew this.
However, Bleacher Report decided to remind you this week just how good he is.
On Tuesday, the major sports media brand released the lengthy list, BR 99: Ranking the Top 99 Quarterbacks in NFL History. Anyone who knows ball knows who number one was on that list.
So much so that, even in the Instagram post announcing the list, Bleacher Report gave away that the number one spot was obviously going to be Tom Brady by adding it to their batch of slides.
The real kicker is who got ranked where. Many fan bases are up in arms; a prime example is the Steelers fan base, which took notice of where both Terry Bradshaw (15) and Ben Roethlisberger (16) were ranked. Russell Wilson (25) was put higher than Cam Newton (43).
But no complaining from anyone about where Tom Brady landed.
Brady edged out his boyhood idol, Joe Montana, who got second place, and his on-field arch nemesis/off-the-field buddy, Peyton Manning, who got third place.
The excerpt about why he's in the top spot breaks down the stats that make him the best at it, but also highlights some of his disadvantages on the field. Brady was never quick on his feet, nor was he the most gifted physically; regardless, how could you argue against him?
He's a three-time League MVP and a five-time Super Bowl MVP. The real kicker of all is his Super Bowl titles. We all know he has seven. Six with the New England Patriots. One with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady alone has more Lombardi trophies and Super Bowl rings than any single NFL franchise.
Unreal stat for the GOAT.
