The New England Patriots have been urged to sign an eight-time Pro Bowler.

The New England Patriots have been urged to sign one of the best players in NFL history.

Aaliyan Mohammed of NESN believes the Patriots should sign WR Tyreek Hill, who is an unrestricted free agent.

"Assuming Hill will be able to play this year, the Patriots should be all over signing him to a shorter deal that allows him to prove he is still an elite player," Mohammed wrote. "He was a phenomenal receiver for the Dolphins before quarterback play and his leg injury held him back the last two years. The Patriots have reportedly tried trading for A.J. Brown, and clearly have interest in adding a receiver in some capacity."

Hill suffered a season-ending leg injury last season and underwent surgery in September to repair a dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL. The eight-time Pro Bowler, though, believes he will be ready to play Week 1 of next season.

After parting ways with Stefon Diggs, the Patriots need more offensive weapons for QB Drake Maye and Hill has been one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in NFL history. He has 11,363 receiving yards and 83 receiving touchdowns with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.

"He is going to have an opportunity to establish himself as a top option, considering the Patriots do not have a proven No. 1 receiver right now," Mohammed wrote. "Hill may not get the same opportunity to shine on teams with an established No. 1 option after his injury. He would get to play with an MVP candidate at quarterback. Also, he would get to play against his former team twice a year.

"Ultimately, Hill would get an opportunity to prove he is still elite while playing for a contender, and the Patriots would get a low-risk, high-reward receiver."

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Patriots by a final score of 29-13 in Super Bowl LX. Maye finished the Super Bowl with 295 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. It's fair to wonder how he would have played against the Seahawks had he not gotten hurt against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.

A UNC product, Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes. He finished in second in MVP voting to Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford. Just imagine what Maye would do next season with Hill on the outside.
