The New England Patriots have acquired an offensive tackle in a deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
The New England Patriots have made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, acquiring offensive tackle Walter Rouse and a 2027 seventh-round pick for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Rouse could now become a solid depth piece on the offensive line for the Patriots behind their starting tackles of Will Campbell and Morgan Moses. The Vikings selected Rouse in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 25-year-old appeared in seven games for the Vikings in the 2025 season and will now look to make an impact in New England if a starting offensive lineman misses time.
Rouse had a quality collegiate career, earning honorable mention for the All-Big 12 team in his senior campaign at Oklahoma.

The Patriots were aggressive in improving the roster this offseason, including the acquisition of star wide receiver AJ Brown.
In the 2025 season with the Philadelphia Eagles, Brown hauled in 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. Although Brown is an elite weapon for Drake Maye, it won't matter if he doesn't have time to deliver the ball downfield.
Maye is coming off a phenomenal 2025 season, as he completed 72 percent of his passes for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while rushing for 450 yards and four touchdowns. He came second in MVP voting behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
The Patriots will need their offensive line to keep Maye clean in the pocket, which is why they signed guard Alijah Vera-Tucker in the offseason.
New England has the talent on the roster to be a contender for a second straight season, and Maye could be an MVP candidate if the offensive line gives him time to deliver the ball downfield.
Adding depth like Rouse may not seem important, but it could help the Patriots as they look to win their seventh Super Bowl.
