Is Drake Maye the second coming of New England Patriots legend Tom Brady?

How good has Drake Maye been this season? He could accomplish a feat New England Patriots legend Tom Brady did in 2007.

Maye entered Week 13 leading the NFL in completion percentage (71.0) and passing yards (3,130). If he continues to pace all passers in both categories until season's end, he will join Drew Brees (2011), Brady (2007), Peyton Manning (2003), Kurt Warner (2001) and Brett Favre (1998) as the only players to lead the league in completion percentage and passing yards, per Bobby Kownack of NFL.com.

Maye is putting up MVP numbers this season. The second-year QB has 3,130 passing yards and 21 passing touchdowns.

Behind Maye, the Patriots have the best record in the NFL at 10-2. Maye is completing 71.0% of his passes for New England, who are Super Bowl contenders for the first time in the post-Brady era.

Maye was the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He enters this week with 5,406 passing yards and 36 career passing touchdowns in 25 games.

The Patriots will probably blow out the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Maybe and Co. are arguably the top team in the league, while the Giants (2-10) are undoubtedly one of the worst teams.

Matt Okada of NFL.com thinks Maye will throw for over 400 yards against the Giants, who have one of the worst defenses in the league.

"The sensational young MVP candidate still hasn't thrown for 300 yards in a game in his career, but that drought ends Monday night," Okada wrote. "Maye will leapfrog 300 entirely and throw for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a surprisingly close prime-time duel with the Giants."

Giants star Brian Burns thinks Maye is "a little bit too poised," which created headlines in New York and New England.

Here's what Maye said about Burns' comments about him: "Shoot, I'm not 100 percent [sure] what that really means. I try to keep my eyes down the field with feeling the pressure. I think that's part of playing the position. So just trying to make the right play."

Let's see how Maye plays against the Giants after what Burns said.
