New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has been given a brutal ranking heading into Week 4.

After appearing in the Super Bowl last season, the New England Patriots have started to regress, much earlier than expected.

Many analysts saw the Patriots coming down a peg, but most still had New England as a playoff team. But through the first three weeks of the NFL season, New England has looked like a shell of the team that they were last year.

Both sides of the ball have struggled, but the offense has sputtered in a way that nobody saw coming. Much of this has been due to the poor play from quarterback Drake Maye, who has done a complete-180 in terms of his performance.

New England was dominated by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, falling 35-6 on the road. Maye was a central part of the loss, with him throwing two interceptions against a tough Jaguars defensive unit.

After the game against the Jaguars, Maye has been receiving all sorts of criticism around the NFL. The Patriots star hasn't played up to par, and it's been a rough watch at times this season.

Entering Week 4 of the season, Maye has been ranked in a brutal spot within a new quarterback tier from NFL.com. Maye came in ranked at No. 31 on the list, showing how far he has dropped this season.

Last week, Maye was ranked No. 20, but his poor outing saw him fall 11 spots on the list. There is still time for Maye to turn the season around, but something seems to be a little off with his game right now.

Through the first three weeks of the season, Maye has thrown for 585 yards with one touchdown and six interceptions. The normally strong dual-threat quarterback has also rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns, but he has fumbled twice as well.

2026 has been a poor year for Maye so far, and the only way out of this is for him to get back to the basics. Maye was the runner up for the MVP award last season, making his struggles this year even more head-scratching for people around the league.

Maye's confidence level seems to be at an all-time low, with some wondering about his mentality. But for now, the Patriots will move forward with the former No. 3 overall draft pick, hoping that he can snap out of this weird funk.

New England will be taking on the rival Buffalo Bills this week on the road, giving them another tough challenge early on in the year.
