There is a strong silver lining for the New England Patriots despite the tough Week 1 loss.

The New England Patriots had to listen to all the talk throughout the offseason about the Seattle Seahawks following a loss in the Super Bowl.

So, when New England saw Seattle on the Week 1 schedule, it offered them a chance to get some revenge. Leading into the game, the Patriots downplayed the "revenge" aspect, but anyone could tell New England badly wanted the win.

Midway through the contest, things looked great for the Patriots, with the team winning 10-0. But New England fell apart down the stretch, losing the Week 1 game 13-10.

Quarterback Drake Maye threw three interceptions in the second half, leading to the Seahawks' comeback. It was a tough game all around, sending the Patriots to 0-1 in the new season.

But it wasn;t all bad for New England, with the team getting one major silver lining. And that was the play from second-year offensive lineman Will Campbell.

Campbell, the team's first-round draft pick from 2025, looked like a completely different player following an offseason of work. Working against a tough Seahawks defensive front, Campbell was able to hold his own, allowing just one pressure on 44 pass-block attempts.

This was very different from in the Super Bowl, when Campbell struggled to do much of anything against Seattle. The Seahawks generated eight pressures against Campbell on the biggest stage that the sport has to offer.

But Campbell clearly worked on his strength and timing over the offseason, showing real improvement already. For a lineman, timing can be everything, and with more experience at the NFL level, Campbell is ready to do his part for the Patriots.

One of the more impressive parts of his success in Week 1 was the fact that the game was being played in Seattle, where the Patriots could barely hear the play calls.

Campbell showed why he was a top draft pick in this game, and his development could open the door for Maye to be even better as the year goes on. The Patriots have to be excited about what they saw from Campbell in this game, and the team can take this moving forward.

New England didn't see much go their way against the Seahawks, but Campbell was one of the real bright spots. If he can continue to develop, the Patriots will feel more confident that he is the long-term answer at the tackle spot.

Next up for the Patriots will be their home opener for the season, when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.
