It looks like the New England Patriots will acquire A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Nate Tice of Yahoo Sports, the A.J. Brown trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots is "pretty much done."

The Eagles are expected to trade Brown in June because Brown's dead-money hit would be lowered from $40 million to $20 million.

“I’ve had three different people…I’m not the source guy, but three people just say something as I’ve talked to them that are with teams, that have all told me it feels pretty much done, the post-June 1 trade," Tate said. "I’m not trying to break news here, but I think everybody is in agreement here.”

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel coached Brown on the Tennessee Titans. Brown has 8,029 receiving yards and 56 receiving touchdowns in the NFL with the Titans and Eagles. He won the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025.

Brown and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $96 million extension in April 2024. The Super Bowl champion has no guaranteed money on his current deal after 2026.

Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns last season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren't on the same page and multiple reports have said the two stars are no longer close.

According to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Brown has an understanding that the Eagles will trade him in the summer.

"Eagles GM Howie Roseman continues to say Brown is a member of the Eagles, and that is an unassailable fact," Jones wrote. "But what sources have pointed out to me is that Brown has done nothing publicly to try to punch his way out of Philly, and those sources have theorized that Brown may have an understanding that a deal will take place at some point in the summer. Making a public stink does not help his position, especially when he could be on another team by OTAs and minicamp in June anyway."

The Patriots parted ways with Stefon Diggs and signed Romeo Doubs this offseason. If they add Brown, the offense could be very elite next season with Drake Maye leading the way.
