New England Patriots QB Drake Maye struggled in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.
The MVP finalist was sacked six times and turned the ball over three times in the Patriots' 29-13 loss.
After the game, Seahawks edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu said Seattle's plan was to "disrupt" Maye all game long.
"The plan was to get to Maye, disrupt him. We knew he was their whole team," Nwosu said, via ESPN. "We knew if we affected him, their whole game plan would be nothing. ... Drake's a great guy, has a lot of talent and a bright future ahead of him."
Maye finished the Super Bowl with 295 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions.
As expected, the UNC product was emotional after the game.
"This hurts. It definitely hurts. They played better than us tonight," Maye said. "They deserved to win that game. For the whole team and myself, what a journey it's been for us. I love this team and those guys in the locker room. We left it all on the field and just came up short. We didn't play our best, and that's what happens. ... It's going to sting for a while, but that's what you sign up for."
Maye received a pain-killing injection for his injured right shoulder before the Super Bowl. The Pro Bowler suffered a right shoulder injury against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.
It's going to be a long offseason for the Patriots, who were favored to beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. Maye, who has a bright future, will use this loss as motivation.
"This is fuel," Maye said. "If it's not, then I don't know what the feeling would do for you. Because this is tough."
Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns while completing 72.0% of his passes. His numbers dropped in the playoffs to six touchdown passes and four interceptions.
The Super Bowl showed that the Patriots need to shore up their offensive line. Maye had no time to pass the ball against the Seahawks' lethal defensive line.
