The New England Patriots are in the AFC Championship Game for the first time in the post-Tom Brady era after beating the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round.
Patriots star WR Stefon Diggs, one of the leaders of the team, is grateful to be back in the AFC Championship Game, but he doesn't want to get complacent.
"We're going to enjoy it for the next eight hours," Diggs said. "They've got a day on us right now, recovery-wise, so I think the biggest thing for us is to come in and try to be better. We have some things that we left out there, but coming out with the win means everything. I'd rather win and learn a lesson than lose. We talked about that earlier in the season.
"So, it hasn't sunk in, and I hope it doesn't. I want to just move on – move on to the next. Be thankful for where we are, but we've got to get another one."
Diggs and the Patriots face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. The game takes place in Denver since the Broncos are the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Diggs had 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season. In two playoff games against the Los Angeles Chargers and Texans, the Pro Bowler has six catches for 56 yards and one touchdown.
"I think we learned a lesson a lot about ourselves, about our adversity," Diggs said. "We talked a lot about it during the week, that a fight ain't a fight until you meet resistance, until they swing back, and they definitely were swinging back the whole time. So, being able to weather the storm and come out with a W, I just feel like I'm thankful."
The Patriots are Super Bowl contenders for the first time in the post-Brady era. They have an elite coach (Mike Vrabel), QB (Drake Maye) and WR (Diggs) leading the way.
It will be fascinating to see if the Patriots can beat the Broncos, who will be playing without starting QB Bo Nix. New England is one win away from reaching the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2018 season.
