Brian Thomas Jr. Latest WR To Be Linked To Raiders

NFL trade season is heating up and one recent suggested addition to the Las Vegas Raiders' wide-receiver room is the Jacksonville Jaguars' Brian Thomas Jr.

At this rate - with the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching on Nov. 10 - the Las Vegas Raiders may need to install a revolving door on Allegiant Stadium.

The trade rumors have been flying constantly and two of the more popular ones where the Raiders are concerned have defensive end Maxx Crosby and quarterback Kirk Cousins as potentially significant additions for teams battling for playoff spots and looking to buttress their D-lines and QB positions.

That's not to say that the Raiders aren't still fighting to stay in playoff contention, but riding a four-game losing streak and with a brutal schedule upcoming, preparations for the 2027 season may soon be under way in earnest.

That hasn't stopped some pundits from saying there's still a chance the Raiders can add talent to this year's squad, though the name that popped up in a piece from Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox on Thursday listed the Raiders as an "ideal landing spot" for a seemingly out-of-favor wide receiver.

That would be the Jacksonville Jaguars' wideout Brian Thomas Jr., who appears to have at least fallen down the food chain in the WR room if not having been fully consigned to the doghouse in Duval County.

For what it's worth, on Monday, Jaguars' head coach Liam Cohen said that Thomas was still fully a part of the team's future.

"He's going to be able to help us make plays this week," Coen was quoted as saying in a report by Nick Brinkerhoff of USA Today that appeared on Yahoo Sports. "I bet it. I know it. We're going to continue to support him and put our arm around him and continue to do what we got to do to make plays on Sundays and we got to continue to put him in the best position to do so."

Actions, of course, speak louder than words, and Thomas' actions on the field have been few and far between recently. In the Jaguars' two games in London he totaled zero catches on five total targets and failed to set foot on the field in the second half of Oct. 18's loss to the Houston Texans.

For the season, Thomas has nine catches for 105 yards and has started only three of the Jaguars' six games with Parker Washington and former Raider Jakobi Meyers clearly quarterback Trevor Lawrence's top targets.

That's a far cry from two years ago when Thomas burst onto the scene like a supernova after being the 23rd pick of the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. That year, he recorded 87 catches for 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns. That earned him a Pro Bowl selection and a fourth-place finish in the Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

Thomas' numbers in 2025 fell by nearly half when compared to 2024 in receptions (48) and yards (707), while his touchdown catches slid 80% to two.

But no one expected this year's complete bottoming out.

Knox singles out the Raiders as a landing spot because Thomas' "best home might be with a rebuilding team that has upside" because "it could take some time for him to regain his rookie form, and a Super Bowl hopeful might not be able to afford him that.

"The Las Vegas Raiders, however, could. As a potential long-term contributor, Thomas would be a great fit in [head coach] Klint Kubiak's offense alongside [QB Fernando] Mendoza, Brock Bowers, Ashton Jeanty and possibly Tre Tucker, who will be a free agent in the spring."

Knox anticipates it would take somewhere along the lines of the second- and sixth-round picks the Texans shipped to the Arizona Cardinals to acquire WR Marvin Harrison Jr., with the Raiders currently holding single selections in each of those rounds in the 2027 draft.
