Chip Kelly Breaks Silence After Being Fired By Raiders cover image

Kelly discusses his brief, high-stakes tenure as Raiders offensive coordinator and expresses gratitude despite the swift dismissal.

The Las Vegas Raiders saw a lot of new faces enter the fold in the offseason. One of them was Pete Carroll, who came in as the new head coach.

Another was Chp Kelly, who was hired as the team's offensive coordinator after he held the same role with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Raiders made him the highest-paid OC in the NFL, but after 11 games, they made the decision to move on from Kelly.

The offense in Las Vegas has not been good, and quarterback Geno Smith has not helped either.

After just 11 games, Kelly is back on the open market. While it is an unfortunate turn of events for the OC, he spoke to Jay Glazer and expressed his gratitude despite the decision.

“I am grateful for the opportunity with the Raiders, bottom line in this league you have to win," Kelly said. "I really loved those players, I’m a huge, HUGE Geno Smith fan, that was one of the best parts of this experience for me, working with Geno and those guys every day. But hey, we gotta win. I get it.”

The Raiders have just two wins all year, and one of them came in Week 1 against the New England Patriots in a surprising result.

Nonetheless, Kelly is happy for the opportunity, and he will be a name to watch with this next hiring cycle.
