The Las Vegas Raiders placed their second player in the NFL Top 100 list, with Maxx Crosby joining Brock Bowers.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has had an offseason full of controversy, but he still landed in the top quarter of the NFL’s annual Top 100 list at No. 24.
That number was down two from last year’s No. 22 ranking, but this was the fourth straight year in which Crosby has made this list, and he joins tight end Brock Bowers as the second player to join the list, with Bowers checking in at No. 60 a couple of weeks ago.
Crosbyt started 15 games for the Raiders last year, and according to Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com, his numbers included 73 tackles , 28 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, an interception, 20 QB hits and two forced fumbles.
Bergman’s insight stat had Crosby recording 58 tackles in the run game that resulted in a negative play for the offense (i.e., run stops), which was tied for the most among defensive linemen with Cameron Heyward and Jordan Davis.
He was the best player by far on a unit that struggled with inconsistency and too much time on the field due to the Raiders awful offense, and the combination led to a 3-14 record.
Controversy dogged Crosby at the end of the season, however, then followed him into the offseason. He was shut down late in the season due to a knee issue, and Crosby stormed out the team’s facility and swore he wanted nothing to do with the Raiders for the rest of his career.
Crosby wound up having surgery for a torn meniscus when the season was over, and the Raider tried to accommodate him by trading Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens for a pair of top draft picks, but the effort boomeranged when the Ravens got a closer look at Crosby’s medicals and rescinded the trade.
There were more rumors that Crosby might be dealt before the draft, and he still might be traded at the end of training camp. He’s happy to be a Raider for the moment, but Crosby was recently thrown out of practice and held out for a day by new coach Klint Kubiak after he started a scuffle with quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Crosby is still an effective player, and his best year in the Top 100 was two years ago in 2024, when he landed at No. 10. He had 14.5 sacks that year, and the Raiders are hoping he can back to that level, assuming they decide to keep him around.
