Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak set his roster yesterday, but an injury situation at RB is still a concern.

Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak set his first NFL roster as a head coach, and it was shaped by a trade that took place yesterday before cutdowns were made.

The Raiders moved offensive lineman to the New York Jets for a late-round draft pick, wth the combination of the traded and cuts indicating that rookie Trey Zuhn III will play a key role as a depth piece as he worked up and down the line in camp and preseason.

The full list of those waived includes Las Vegas quarterback Jacob Clark, defensive tackle Brandon Cleveland, offensive lineman Braeden Daniels, long snapper Tyler Duzansky, tight end Patrick Gurd, defensive end Jahfari Harvey, running back Roman Hemby, offensive tackle Niklas Henning, receiver Shedrick Jackson, offensive tackle Isaiah Jatta, safety Devin Lafayette, defensive tackle Treven Ma’ae, kicker Kansei Matsuzawa, offensive tackle Kamar Missouri, cornerback Caleb Offord, cornerback Devyn Perkins, center Will Putnam, defensive end Cian Slone, linebacker Zavian Sorey Jr., defensive tackle Gary Smith III, cornerback Greedy Vance, offensive tackle Dalton Wagner, and receiver E.J. Williams.

The players released include  receiver Phillip Dorsett, receiver Brandon Johnson, linebacker Buddy Johnson, linebacker Cameron McGrone, tight end Chris Myarick, running back Dare Ogunbowale, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam Jr., linebacker Segun Olubi, and receiver Deven Thompkins.

The decision to release Ogunbowale was somewhat surprising, as he had a decent preseason and releasing him leaves the Raiders with just three running backs, although Ogunbowale was expected to mostly contribute on special teams. Las Vegas has been working out a steady stream of running backs in camp, but apparently they haven’t been able to find the right fit.

The situation with running back Ashton Jeanty remains murky as well, as he sustained a serious ankle sprain during the final week of practice, but Kubiak has said he’s “on the mend” and the Raiders will be relying on him in Week 1, although his exact role and the breakdown of snaps remains unclear.

The other noteworthy move was to put defensive end Keyon Crawford and tight end Carter Runyon on injured reserve. But Runyon has been designated to return, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, which means he’ll be eligible to play in Week 5.

Crawford was selected in the third round back in April, but his season is now over, although the Raiders do have plenty of depth at his position as they moved to fortify their pass rush in free agency.
