The Raiders claimed offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue off waivers from Seattle, giving Klint Kubiak a familiar and versatile depth option just days before the season opener.

The Las Vegas Raiders are still tinkering with their offensive line just days before their season opener.

Las Vegas claimed offensive lineman Bryce Cabeldue off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, reuniting the second-year player with Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak.

The Raiders waived guard Atonio Mafi to make room for Cabeldue on the 53-man roster.

Cabeldue, 25, spent his rookie season in Seattle after the Seahawks selected him in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Kansas. He appeared in eight games without making a start before missing the postseason with an injury as Seattle went on to win the Super Bowl.

Kubiak was the Seahawks' offensive coordinator during Cabeldue's rookie season before becoming the Raiders' head coach in February.

Kubiak isn't the only member of the Raiders staff who already knows the new lineman.

Raiders offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko was Seattle's quarterbacks coach last season, while Las Vegas offensive line coach Rick Dennison served as the Seahawks' run game coordinator and senior offensive assistant.

That familiarity could help Cabeldue get acclimated quickly despite joining the Raiders immediately before Sunday's opener against the Miami Dolphins.

Cabeldue also gives Las Vegas some versatility along an offensive line that has undergone significant changes since last season.

The Raiders list Cabeldue as a guard, but most of his college experience came at tackle. He was a four-year starter at Kansas, playing primarily on the right side, and started all 12 games at right tackle as a senior in 2024.  He earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in 2024.

That experience potentially gives Kubiak another reserve option at multiple spots along the line, but the move shouldn't necessarily be viewed as an indication that Cabeldue is about to crack the starting lineup.

Instead, it gives the Raiders another young depth piece as Kubiak and his staff continue rebuilding a unit that struggled badly last season. Las Vegas entered the offseason determined to improve its offensive line and has emphasized versatility while reshaping the unit.

The Raiders have since made numerous changes to the unit, including adding veteran help and investing a third-round draft pick in Texas A&M offensive lineman Trey Zuhn III.

Cabeldue is the latest edition.

His arrival also continues a familiar pattern around the NFL when a new coaching staff takes over. Players with previous experience in a coach's system can be particularly useful because they already understand much of the terminology, techniques, and expectations being installed.

Cabeldue's familiarity with Kubiak, Janocko, and Dennison makes him an unusually logical late addition.

How much he actually plays remains to be seen.

But with the Raiders preparing to open the Kubiak era Sunday at Allegiant Stadium, the new head coach has added another player he already knows to an offensive line he's trying to remake.
