Fox Sports had some trade proposals for every team, and this one had the Las Vegas Raiders adding a former first-round pick for cheap.
It sure has been a very busy few months around the Las Vegas Raiders franchise.
Pete Carroll and Geno Smith are long gone, and Klint Kubiak is the new head coach after he was the OC for the Seattle Seahawks and won a Super Bowl.
The Raiders then went wild in free agency, and appeared to trade Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens before Baltimore backed out of the deal.
Now, the Raiders appear poised to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and a new era is kicking off in Sin City.
Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports had one trade proposal for every AFC team going into the draft, and the one for the Raiders included a New York Giants cornerback coming to town for a cheap price.
Vacchiano proposed the Raiders acquire cornerback Deonte Banks in exchange for a sixth-round pick.
"They are likely multiple years away from being competitive again, so their focus should be on acquiring assets. But they are also thin at corner and are the type of team that can and should take a flier on a player like Banks — talented enough to be a first-round pick (2023), but a bust so far in the NFL," Vacchiano wrote.
Banks was selected at No. 24 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, so landing a former first-round pick for a Day 3 selection isn't a bad gamble for Las Vegas to take.
The Raiders found a diamond in the rough with Eric Stokes, who had his best season after being a bit of a bust with the Green Bay Packers.
The Raiders are a bit familiar with Banks. He returned a kickoff for a touchdown against Las Vegas this past December.
Rob Leonard is the new DC in Las Vegas, and he could have a shot to see if he can turn things around with Banks.
The price, if it is this cheap, wouldn't be a bad idea for the Raiders, and they definitely need to add another cornerback at some point before the season begins.
The Raiders are trying to add young players to the fold, which is part of the reason why they initially agreed to trade Crosby for two first-round picks.
And, even though they give up a Day 3 pick in this scenario, they land a young cornerback who might benefit from a change of scenery.
Let's see if John Spytek pulls a rabbit out of his hat during the NFL Draft.
