The Las Vegas Raiders will finally be able to see their star defensive end back on the field.
The Las Vegas Raiders are getting down to crunch time in training camp, and it looks like they’re going to have star defensive end Maxx Crosby back in the fold. Coach Klint Kubiak said as much in his latest comments, according to a report from Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk.
This is tentative news because Crosby talked about being “almost there” in training camp. But Crosby likes to talk about anything that comes to mind, while his coach is far more measured in what he says.
“He’s going to get all the reps tomorrow with the ones,” Kubiak said in his Tuesday press conference. “He’s ready to go. He’s ready to practice.
“As practice unfolds and we’re watching our players, it’s always a moving target. But, as of right now, tomorrow’s a pretty short workday — an hour and 30 minutes. So, we’re expecting him to be ready to take all those reps.”
Crosby is also a much more important target. We know Crosby will be on the field as much as possible, because that’s what he does. He appeared him 15 games for the Raiders last season, then kicked up a minor maelstrom when Las Vegas tried to take him off the field for the last two games. He gave in, but who knows how much this played in the Raiders' decision to try and trade him.
We also know Crosby will post numbers and play well if he’s heathly. Simmons listed his numbers for last year, which included 10 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 20 QB hits, and his first career interception in 2025.
What we don’t know is exactly how well Crosby is moving or how that’s playing into his medicals. Most of his training camp experiences will amount to brief cameos, with the lion's share of the important work and evaluations taking place behind the scenes.
We also don’t know what the Raiders’ intentions are in this situation. They may have already decided to try and trade Crosby again without telling anyone, although it’s hard to keep something like that under wraps.
There are still plenty of interested teams that would cough up a first- and a third-round draft pick for Crosby if he looks good, and Kubiak might still decide that his roster needs so much work that the Raider might as well get what they can for Mad Maxx. It’s a fluid situation with a lot of moving parts and pieces, and it’s also a major storyline to watch going forward.
