The Las Vegas Raiders elevated running back Roman Hemby and wide receiver Deven Thompkins from the practice squad Saturday as Ashton Jeanty's availability for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots remains uncertain.
The Las Vegas Raiders have added insurance at running back, with Ashton Jeanty's availability for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots uncertain.
Las Vegas elevated rookie running back Roman Hemby and wide receiver Deven Thompkins from its practice squad Saturday, according to an announcement from the team's public relations department.
The moves come after Jeanty missed Friday's practice with ankle and foot injuries and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Hemby's elevation comes with Jeanty's status uncertain.
Jeanty was a full participant in Wednesday's practice before being limited Thursday and sitting out Friday.
Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said Jeanty would travel with the team and attempt to play, according to Pro Football Talk.
Hemby's elevation gives Las Vegas additional depth if Jeanty can't play, but it does not necessarily mean Jeanty will be inactive.
Jeanty has started all four games this season, rushing for 264 yards on 78 carries. He has also caught 19 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
His injury comes as the Raiders try to revive a struggling running game.
After rushing for 102 yards in the season opener, Jeanty has failed to reach 60 rushing yards in any of the past three games.
Rookie Mike Washington Jr. would likely take on a larger role if Jeanty cannot play.
Washington has rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries through four games, averaging five yards per attempt.
Hemby, meanwhile, joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in April after finishing his college career at Indiana.
The 24-year-old spent four seasons at Maryland before transferring to Indiana for the 2025 season. He finished his college career with 3,467 rushing yards and 34 total touchdowns, according to his official Raiders biography.
Hemby appeared in all three Raiders preseason games, rushing for 38 yards on 11 carries.
The team also elevated Thompkins as wide receivers Jalen Nailor and Dont'e Thornton Jr. were ruled out of Sunday's game.
Thompkins provides another receiving option and has experience returning kicks and punts.
The 26-year-old has appeared in 36 NFL regular-season games, catching 29 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown.
The Raiders have remained productive offensively despite their rushing struggles, entering Sunday's game ranked among the NFL's top-10 scoring offenses.
However, Jeanty's uncertain status adds another challenge for an offense already dealing with injuries at wide receiver.
Las Vegas enters Sunday's game with a 3-1 record after suffering its first loss of the season against Kansas City last weekend.
Jeanty's availability should become clearer when the Raiders announce their inactive players ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
