Brock Bowers earned the first weekly award of his career after a huge performance in the Las Vegas Raiders' victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Brock Bowers' huge season debut for the Las Vegas Raiders has earned him some league-wide recognition.
Bowers was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after catching 10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-27 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
It's the first Player of the Week award of Bowers' career.
It also ended a lengthy drought for his position.
Bowers became the first tight end to win AFC Offensive Player of the Week since Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce earned the honor in Week 11 of the 2022 season.
The honor adds to what was already a memorable return for Bowers.
The two-time Pro Bowler missed the Raiders' first two games while recovering from a knee injury, then immediately became a focal point of the offense against New Orleans.
Bowers caught 10 of his 13 targets, averaged 11.6 yards per reception, and scored the game-winning touchdown.
His 4-yard score from Geno Smith with 5:12 remaining gave Las Vegas a 35-27 lead.
The performance also continued Bowers' assault on the NFL record book, as he moved past Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr. for the second-most receiving yards by a tight end through his first 30 career games.
Bowers now has six career games with at least 10 receptions, the most by any tight end within his first three NFL seasons.
His latest honor also continues an unusual early-season run of league recognition for the Raiders.
Cornerback Hezekiah Masses was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting Justin Herbert twice in Las Vegas' Week 2 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now Bowers has given the Raiders another weekly winner just seven days later.
According to the Raiders, this is the first time since 2021 and only the third time since 1984 that the franchise has produced two Player of the Week winners in the first three weeks of a season.
Bowers' performance came at an important time for Las Vegas.
The Raiders improved to 3-0 with the victory and will now host the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in the first meeting in the rivalry's history in which both teams enter 3-0.
And Bowers will enter that matchup having accomplished something no AFC tight end had done in nearly four years.
