The Las Vegas Raiders were about as far away from the Super Bowl as possible, as they finished with a 3-14 record and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 National Football League Draft.
Their future head coach, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, has the chance to bring championship pedigree to a Raiders team that is entering a full rebuild and seeking leadership. Speaking of leadership, Minority Owner Tom Brady was said to be directly involved in the hiring process with General Manager John Spytek.
Brady wants to be part of building sustained success with Las Vegas and being involved in finding the next head coach is a great step in that. Kubiak is a bright offensive mind and seems like a home run hire when it’s finalized after the Super Bowl.
This year’s Super Bowl features Kubiak’s Seahawks and the New England Patriots, Brady’s former team that he spent 20 of his 23 seasons with. He also won six of his seven Super Bowl championships, so it’s safe to say that the Patriots were incredibly important to Brady.
However, Brady is making headlines in relation to his comments about Sunday’s matchup between Seattle and New England. Brady said he doesn’t care who wins, claiming he “doesn’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” and former teammate Vince Wilfork took exception to it.
“That's (expletive), Tom,” Wilfork said during an interview this week with Boston radio station WEEI. “All that political -- this ain't political. It ain't political, what it is. Raiders ain't in it. Say what it is, what you see.
“At the end of the day, if you're a Patriot for life, you know what it is,” Wilfork said in response to a comment that Brady should want the Patriots to win. "Don't give me that political (expletive). That’s just what it is. If you don't think we're gonna win, just pick Seattle then. Don't straddle the fence.”
Brady said during a podcast appearance that he wants to see a good game with good decision-making. He acknowledged that this is a new era for the Patriots and that it’s an exciting time for the organization and their fans.
Other former teammates chimed in, with Rob Gronkowski stating that even though they haven’t spoken about this year’s Super Bowl, he thinks Brady is so competitive that he wishes he was playing in this game.
“He probably wants to be the quarterback,” Gronkowski said on “Up & Adams.” “He's that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.”
“Gronk” stated he is rooting for the Patriots and that he loves that many fans hate the fact that New England is back in the Super Bowl.
Ex-teammate Asante Samuel angrily posted five times on X regarding Brady and him not supporting the Patriots. He said he is highly disappointed that Brady isn’t rooting for his former teammate, Head Coach Mike Vrabel, and that he would expose Brady for who he is if he didn’t respond.
Whatever that means remains to be seen, but Brady has ruffled the feathers of teammates he has won championships with.
