The 2026 offseason is important as ever for the Las Vegas Raiders, as it’ll determine the direction of the franchise for years to come. After an embarrassing season that landed them the first overall selection in the draft, the Raiders must get this offseason right.
They started strong, firing head coach Pete Carroll right after the season concluded. Despite coming in with Super Bowl-winning experience, a quarterback of his choice, and high expectations, Carroll could only muster up three wins for the Raiders. It was the right decision to cut its losses and move on from Carroll.
That leaves Las Vegas in search of a new head coach, ideally somebody who can come in and make the most out of the young building blocks on the roster, such as running back Ashton JHeanty, tight end Brock Bowers, and whichever rookie quarterback they’re expected to select with the first pick – presumably Fernando Mendoza.
In a Monday article from Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the Raiders have been predicted to bring in current Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Kubiak has already had one interview with the Raiders for the position, but the process may be slower in the next few weeks due to Seattle’s position as the No. 1 seed in the NFC. As Knox put it, the Raiders should be willing to wait.
“Kubiak is one of the league's most creative young offensive play-callers, who has worked wonders with Pro Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold this season. Seattle's passing attack ranked second in net yards per pass attempt during the regular season,” Knox wrote.
“Las Vegas will be intrigued by the possibility of Kubiak coaching up a rookie quarterback while drawing up plays for stars like Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers. It should also be interested in adding a younger coach who can potentially steer the ship for multiple decades.”
The Raiders desperately need a culture changer after having just two playoff appearances since the 2003 season. With his young age and proven ability on the offensive side of the ball, Kubiak seems like a perfect fit for the young pieces in Las Vegas.
Several other candidates have years of experience as a head coach, but that doesn’t mean they’re the correct choice for the Raiders. They tried their luck with that approach last offseason, and it resulted in the worst record in the league. It’s time for a hiring based on fit and culture in Las Vegas, and Kubiak could be just the guy to turn things around.
