After a rookie season in which he was targeted just 29 times, Las Vegas Raiders WR Jack Bech should be more involved within the offense in 2026.
The Las Vegas Raiders are still searching for a wide receiver to be “the guy” during the season, complementing All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers and the rest of the offense moving forward.
Bowers is a standout pass-catcher and is by far the most dangerous receiving threat on the Raiders roster, and if he’s getting all the attention from opposing defenses, somebody else needs to be a reliable option for veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.
After WR Dont’e Thornton Jr. was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury, Las Vegas’ depth chart has the WR1 as Tre Tucker with free agent acquisition Jalen Nailor as the WR2 and second-year man Jack Bech serving as the WR3.
The Raiders don’t have the typical WR1 on their roster – Tucker is a solid player and was targeted 92 times last season, but he isn’t your typical top option, and neither is Nailor. Bech didn’t get many opportunities to show what he could do during his rookie season, logging just 29 targets over 16 games, but he will be asked to contribute more in a passing offense that needs variance.
Former head coach Pete Carroll pushed Bech down the depth chart despite showing he is capable of being a solid option in different situations, but new head coach Klint Kubiak may be calling his number more in 2026.
ESPN’s Ben Solak believes Bech is the biggest X-factor on Las Vegas and his skill set should equate to more opportunities.
“The splashiest moments in the preseason came from Bech, who was one of the rookies pushed aside by Pete Carroll in the ugly conflict between coaching staff and front office,” Solak wrote Friday.
“Bech has the sort of dirty-work skill set that should help him get on the field. He blocks well and can take easy targets for big gains while he grows into the finer details of route timing and location that Kubiak demands of his pass catchers.”
Kubiak was harsh when he said the team was still looking for someone who was accountable and help the team win on Sundays, but that statement is a perfect invitation for Bech to prove his worth.
He is essentially the fifth option on the team behind Tucker, Nailor, Bowers and TE Michael Mayer during various sets, but succeeding in his limited role will surely see him rise on the depth chart.
“But if Bech can make big plays as the third wideout on the field, he'll quickly climb the depth chart and give the Raiders the secondary playmaker they desperately need behind Bowers and Tucker.”
This is a huge season for the Raiders as they see what they have in younger players, especially Bech.
