Los Angeles Rams starting quarterback Matthew Stafford is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career.
That said, he is also going to be 36 years old by the time the Rams kick off the 2024 season next September.
So while Stafford will be back under center for the team next season, the future of the position after he eventually decides to retire - whether that be in 2025 or well beyond - is still a primary area of concern for the franchise moving forward.
And while some may believe the Rams should target their future QB in the NFL Draft this spring, Bleacher Report has another idea.
Former San Francisco 49ers No. 3 overall pick, and current Dallas Cowboys backup, Trey Lance,
Once the starter for the 49ers, Lance was eventually replaced by Brock Purdy, who promptly asserted control of the position for the foreseeable future. As a result, the 49ers shipped Lance off in a trade to the Cowboys in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
In Dallas, Lance has been relegated to third-string behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush and has yet to see the field for the Cowboys. In other words, should the Rams take an interest in Lance, he would be a relatively inexpensive option to pursue.
And in this scenario that's exactly what they get, sending a mere fifth-round pick back to Dallas - a move that would be low-risk, cheap with the potential for very high upside.
