These are the top-graded Rams players according to Pro Football Focus after the team's win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the preseason opener.
There was a lot to like about the Los Angeles Rams' 20-12 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.
From rookies to young players to undrafted players, especially on the offensive side, there was a ton to be pleased with. A ton of players played solid, including these top five players with the highest grades on the Rams' offense, according to Pro Football Focus.
Offense
The top five Rams players with the best grades on offense included left guard Austin Blaske, wide receiver Brennan Presley, quarterback Ty Simpson, right guard Beaux Limmer and tight end Mark Redman.
Austin Blaske, OL - 80.9
Blaske had the best grade with an 80.9, according to PFF. He graded out at 80.3 in run-blocking, doing his part to create paths for running backs Jarquez Hunter, Jordan Waters, and Dean Connors.
Brennan Presley, WR - 79.6
Presley was another standout on the offense. The 24-year-old led the team in receiving yards with 58. He had four receptions and averaged 14.5 yards per reception, with his longest coming on a 23-yard catch and run on a throw from Simpson.
Ty Simpson, QB - 78.1
The star of Saturday was easily the Rams' 13th overall pick in this year’s draft, Simpson, who had the third-best grade on offense with a 78.1 overall grade.
The 23-year-old and potential successor to Matthew Stafford looked the part and then some. Simpson completed 21-of-25 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns. As the game progressed, Simpson looked comfortable, in command and didn't force anything.
The Rams and Simpson couldn't have asked for a better debut.
Beaux Limmer, RG - 74.4
Limmer is set to enter his third year with the team and has struggled to find a consistent role, aside from filling in for injuries.
However, if Saturday was any inidcation, things could be looking up for Limmer. Limmer showed he could be a versatile deth and totationla role on the 53-man roster.
Mark Redman, TE - 73.9
Redman showed out on Saturday, recording three receptions for 47 yards, with his longest reception coming on a 23-yard pass.
Defense
Zech McPhearson, CB - 80.7
McPhearson did his part, collecting one tackle and allowing zero receptions, albeit it was just one target. Still, he made his presence known, which is a good sign for a revamped cornerback room.
McPhearson is low in the cornerback depth chart; however, it could be a good sign of things to come regarding that room.
Cam Lampkin, CB - 68.2
Lampkin, who has impressed in training camp, translated his stellar play against the Chiefs. He has positioned himself as a strong contender to crack the initial 53-man roster, and Saturday's performance boosted those chances.
While Lampkin allowed receptions on all three times he was targeted, it was only for 30 yards.
Alex Cook, S - 64.5
The secondary for the Rams was a bright spot, with Cook ranked third among the team's top defensive grades. Cook saw a ton of action on Saturday, recording a tackle when he was out there.
Ty Hamilton, DL - 64.4
Hamilton played 19 snaps in the preseason opener, which earned him the fourth-highest grade on the Rams' defense. Hamilton took a step forward as he looks to secure a roster spot on the defensive interior line.
Al'zillion Hamilton, CB - 63.9
Hamilton wasn't as sharp, missing one tackle, but he did have a stellar pass breakup.
