The Los Angeles Rams introduced their newest superstar, Myles Garrett, and he had plenty to say.
The Los Angeles Rams have added yet another supertar to their already stacked roster, defensive end Myles Garrett.
Garrett was introduced to the city, the fans, and the media members in Los Angeles. It took a little over 24 hours to do so, but he has fully embraced himself in the Rams culture.
The 30-year-old provided a ton of information on himself and what he will bring to the Rams. While most of the football world found out about the trade on Monday, Garrett said that he found out about a week ago that a trade to the Rams was possible.
"I found out about a week ago that this was a possibility," Garrett said. "It was a surprise, it was a bit of an excitement. Being in L.A., a lot of roots here and knowing that there’s that winning culture and some great teammates and great coaches here and I was definitely looking forward to the opportunity."
Garrett also sent a very simple message to the Rams organization and their fans.
"Very excited to be here. I'm looking forward to help bring a championship here to LA."
The Texas native now has a legitimate chance to win a Super Bowl with the best team he will be part of, as he is set to enter his 10-year career. This season is set to be one for the ages, and while Garrett will be with a new team, it won't come without a new number.
Rams defense tackle Poona Ford rocked the No. 95 last season, but after some conversation with his new teammate, Ford ultimately gave up the jersey number to the future Hall of Famer.
Garrett said, "There was a conversation," Head coach Sean McVay then budded in and said "A conversation and a couple bucks?"
The media laughed, and Garrett then said, "More than a couple," with a smile on his face.
General manager Les Snead went on to speak about when he thought the possibilities of acquiring Garrett started to look more like a reality.
"When Cleveland made the adjustment to his contract, not sure if it was a signal. I've got a good relationship with Andrew Berry thought I'd just check in," Snead said.
Snead has done all he could to make sure the Rams are contenders year in and year out. This trade alone signifies that.
The Rams are entering the upcoming season with championship aspirations, and Garrett would elevate the roster even further, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, where his presence could have a transformative impact.
Garrett is a student of the game and spoke about the history of the Rams' pass rushers and what most excites him about the next chapter in his career.
"I see a position to solidify myself here as well among the very greats. I still have plenty of great years in front of me. And being able to cement that legacy not only as a football city here in LA, but as an individual in winning DPOY and a Super Bowl or more, those things are definitely pressing on my mind, and I have definitely a bit of urgency to do it and do it right away."
Garrett has earned virtually every individual accolade an esteemed pass rusher can achieve during his Hall of Fame career.
The one major accomplishment missing from his resume is a Super Bowl title, and joining the Rams gives him the best opportunity yet to capture the Lombardi Trophy this upcoming season.
