Cobie Durant addresses future with Rams after NFC Championship loss cover image

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Cobie Durant is not yet ready to discuss his impending free agency after the team lost the NFC Championship to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Los Angeles Rams' season came to an unfortunate end when they lost in the NFC Championship. They fought hard, but the Seattle Seahawks were able to come out on top 31-27.

Now, the Rams have to figure out what comes for the team ahead of the 2026 NFL Season. Will quarterback Matthew Stafford retire? What about veteran offensive lineman Rob Havenstein?

The same question can be said for cornerback Cobie Durant. Durant has been an important part of the Rams' defense since they picked him up with 142nd overall pick in the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now, Durant is entering free agency, leaving his status with Los Angeles up in the air. And after losing the NFC Championship, it seems he's not ready to talk about it.

"I can't really talk about the future when we just lost a game like that," Durant said on the Monday after the loss, per Stu Jackson of TheRams.com.

No matter what happens, Durant is happy with how the Rams played this season.

"It's a team effort," Durant said. "They allowed me to play good. Everybody had their games where you're not gonna be 100% perfect every play, every down, every game. Just being able to have that trust from them, and allowing me to go play free and just be the Landshark, that's really it."

It would be unfortunate for the Rams to lose a player like Durant. He made an immediate impact in his debut season, recording three interceptions for 151 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, he had 22 combined tackles (15 solo), five pass deflections, one sack, one tackle for loss, and one quarterback hit.

This quality of play was still seen in the 2025 NFL Season as well, with Durant recording another three interceptions for 60 yards and a touchdown. He also had 40 combined tackles (30 solo), seven pass deflections, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery across 17 games, 15 of which he started.

What's even more impressive is that Durant matched those statistics in the Rams' three playoff games this postseason. Durant had three interceptions for 25 yards, eight combined tackles (six solo), and seven pass deflections.

In his entire career with the Rams, Durant has recorded seven interceptions for 211 yards and two touchdowns, 141 combined tackles (96 solo), 26 pass deflections, six tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
