Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been predicted to have another big year in 2026.
Last season, the Los Angeles Rams saw star quarterback Matthew Stafford put together a career year. Not only did he put up big numbers, he also won his first NFL MVP award.
When all was said and done, Stafford played in all 17 regular season games despite concerning injury issues at the beginning of the year. He completed 65 percent of his pass attempts for 4,707 yards, 46 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions.
Unfortunately, the Rams came up just short of their ultimate goal. They made a run all the way to the NFC Championship Game before being eliminated by the NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks.
Of course, the Seahawks went on to win the Super Bowl.
At 38 years old, there have been questions about how much longer Stafford plans to play. He's locked in for the 2026 season and has been vocal about feeling good from a physical perspective.
During the 2026 NFL Draft, Los Angeles did select Stafford's likely future replacement. Les Snead used the No. 13 overall pick on Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
With that being said, Stafford is expected to have another big season in 2026. ESPN has weighed in with their projections for what fans should expect from him.
ESPN's Mike Clay has projected that Stafford will end up throwing for 4,282 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
They are lower numbers than last season, but still impressive production that most quarterbacks in the NFL can only dream of reaching.
Following the selection of Simpson, Stafford spoke out about his job safety. He's clearly not worried about it, but he knows that he has to keep playing good football.
"Yeah, I mean, I think so," Stafford said. "As long as I do my job at a high level. That's everybody here. You can't just sit around and play terrible and they're not just going to keep bringing you back. So you got to go out there and play well and be the best option at your spot. So yeah, that's my goal."
With the roster the Rams have put together, they should be a Super Bowl contender in 2026. If Stafford plays at the level ESPN is projecting or higher, they're going to be a tough team to beat.
