The Los Angeles Rams have been linked to former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs, but would it be a good fit for the Super Bowl favorites?
The Los Angeles Rams head into the 2026 season as Super Bowl favorites. While that is the case in mid-May, it is clear the Rams could use an upgrade in the wide receiver department.
The Rams could still use reinforcements at wide receiver, which is why they’ve been linked to former All-Pro Stefon Diggs. ESPN’s Matt Bowen even named the Rams as the best potential fit for the four-time Pro Bowler.
"The Ravens could be a fit forDiggs, but I really like him in L.A. alongside Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. The Rams attempted 430 passes out of 11 personnel (three wide receivers) last season, which was ninth most in the league, andDiggs is a natural separator who can line up inside or outside. Plus, he has the toughness to work the middle of the field on in-breaking concepts, a key element of coach Sean McVay's offense."
On paper, a player like Diggs still carries some value, but fit matters more than reputation, especially for the Rams in this Super Bowl window they’re in.
The argument for Diggs in Los Angeles is pretty straightforward. The Rams were theoretically a wide receiver away from being the team to hoist a Lombardi Trophy last season. Not only were they arguably a wide receiver away, but the right wide receiver away.
On the surface, Diggs is that player. He is a proven route runner and separator and has experience as a WR1 in the past. On top of that, Diggs can still win in intermediate areas, a focus where the Rams could use some major help.
For a team like the Rams, who are trying to contend, that kind of resume usually keeps a player on the radar.
However, the Rams have consistently prioritized fit over name value when making roster decisions. That is why there are legitimate concerns to weigh if they seriously consider adding Diggs.
Diggs brought in 1,013 yards and four touchdowns in 2025, which was a solid number considering he tore his ACL in the middle of the 2024 season. Though he is clearly healthy, there could be some concerns regarding his potential contract amount compared to his production on the field.
The most important question is the fit. Under head coach Sean McVay, the Rams have leaned towards a high-character locker room fit, system-disciplined receivers, and cohesion over volatility.
Diggs has had plenty of off-field controversies that may make the team think twice about adding him, even if it is for a one-year deal. Nobody would argue that the All-Pro pass catcher would upgrade the receiver room in a big way, but there could be some headaches that come along with him being signed.
The Rams already have their hands full with Nacua; the last thing they need is to add another player with potential additional character concerns.
