Former Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse spoke candidly about being traded to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett.

Former Los Angeles Rams star edge rusher Jared Verse admitted he was upset when he first learned he was traded.

After his first practice with his new team on Wednesday, Verse met with the media to discuss the trade that brought him to Cleveland.

"It caught me by surprise," Verse said. "I love L.A. I love the coaches, the organization, my teammates, the staff, the fans. I love the whole vibe of L.A. It was upsetting. I was upset for a good little bit of time, but when you’re an athlete you understand the nature of business. Everybody does what they think is best for their business and that’s the situation that I’m in. I’m happy to be a part of the Browns. I’m happy that they believe in me and that they were able to make that trade and bring me here."

The 25-year-old also added that he is focused on being the best version of himself and believes that he will be the best player in the league.

Verse had a standout run during his time with the Rams, earning two Pro Bowl selections and emerging as one of the team’s most consistent edge rushers over the past couple of seasons.

During that stretch, Verse posted impressive stats — including 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes defended, 124 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 45 quarterback hits — cementing himself as a disruptive force off the edge.

In Los Angeles, Verse became the primary pass rusher opposing offenses had to account for on every snap, and that same level of attention will likely follow him as he continues his career with the Browns.

Verse will certainly be the focal point for the Browns and opposing offenses who will take them on this season and for seasons to come.

The Rams and Browns are heading in opposite directions. Cleveland is focused on building for the future, led by Verse on the defensive side of the ball.

As for the Rams, they are the premier favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. After falling short last season in the NFC Championship game, the Rams enter the upcoming year with a clear sense of urgency.

The organization has taken uber-aggressive steps this offseason in an effort to position itself to be the last team standing when it matters most.

The addition of Garrett certainly puts them closer to that goal. According to FanDuel, the Rams have the best odds to win the Super Bowl at +550.
