A new update on the trade between the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown could point to renewed interest.

The Los Angeles Rams were connected to trading for Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown for months, and more recently, general manager Les Snead admitted that talks were ongoing. Oddly enough, head coach Sean McVay also revealed that Davante Adams had been mentioned in trade talks.

It is believed there could have been a player swap involved for Brown and Adams with more draft capital. Though nothing materialized, NFL insider Adam Schefter revealed the Rams were "further along" in landing the All-Pro receiver than people knew, which could point to some renewed interest.

While Snead did admit the conversations had been had about Brown, he did not outright say how close the Rams were to landing the receiver, nor would he have. Interestingly, there have also been reports that the Eagles could revisit trading the pass catcher around June.

All 32 teams will see how their draft plays out before additional moves are made, hence the June timeline. The Rams could very well still be in the mix if they believe that Brown is the missing piece they need to make it to the Super Bowl.

Schefter's new comments on the situation could certainly point to that.

While speaking to 97.5 The Fanatic about the constant stories regarding the Brown trade, Schefter let it slip that the Rams were close to landing the receiver.

"Let’s put it this way, how about this: The Eagles and Rams were further along at one point than people realized ...  I remember thinking, ‘Boy, there’s a chance it’s gonna get done with the Rams.’ And I was waiting to report it and it didn’t get done.”

What makes Schefter's admission a bit more interesting is that it sounds as though the Rams were closer to landing Brown than everyone knew. How close becomes the question.

The Rams and the front office are known for making deals that they believe would push them over the edge. The whole "f*** them picks" phrase was coined by Los Angeles going after cornerback Jalen Ramsey and more in their 2021 season, which resulted in a Super Bowl win.

Though it is not identical, the 2026 season is starting to look like the same. One of the Rams' first-round picks was exchanged to land All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie, who was brought in to rebuild the secondary in a major way.

The Rams do have Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, but beyond that, no other receiver truly emerged as the WR3 option.

Landing a player like Brown would certainly transform the Rams' offense in a major way, especially if the team were to keep Adams as well.

Brown still managed to land over 1,000 receiving yards, even in a down year when he was not being utilized all the way on the Eagles offense. He could pair with Nacua and Adams to create a trio that would be quite tough to deal with.

Los Angeles may be waiting to see how the draft shakes out before they make any moves. There are a ton of wide receiver prospects to choose from, but that does not mean that Snead would not still explore Brown again in the future.
