The Los Angeles Rams have officially signed quarterback Ty Simpson to a fully guaranteed rookie deal.

The Los Angeles Rams have now signed rookie quarterback Ty Simpson to his rookie deal, which now means all NFL rookies have been signed.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Rams signed Simpson to a $25.4 million deal that is fully guaranteed and also includes a fifth-year option and a signing bonus of $14.94 million. With this news, Los Angeles has now fully signed their rookie class.

After being selected with the No. 13 overall pick by the Rams, there has been a lot of attention surrounding Simpson, with the expectation that he could be the next franchise quarterback for Los Angeles.

However, Simpson does have to prove he is ready for the NFL through training as he competes with Stetson Bennett IV for the backup quarterback job.

While some may doubt Simpson, he did have a solid 2025 season with the Alabama Crimson Tide that suggests he may have the talent to become a solid quarterback for the Rams as he develops.

In Simpson's 2025 campaign with Alabama, he totaled 3,567 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, five interceptions, and completed 64.5 percent of his passes in addition to running for two touchdowns on the ground.

Simpson led the Crimson Tide to an overall record of 10-2, an appearance in the SEC Championship Game, and a first-round win on the road in the College Football Playoff.

Even with just one full year starting, Simpson has shown the ability to lead a successful offense and may have the potential to do something similar for the Rams and head coach Sean McVay throughout his NFL career.

As a quarterback, Simpson is quite accurate and seems to do well in situations where timing is critical for a passing attack. As a result of that, he could be a great fit in McVay's offense, where there are plenty of playmakers like star receiver Puka Nacua who can run routes at all three levels.

In McVay's system, Simpson also has the benefit of learning from Matthew Stafford, who has become one of the most accurate and effective quarterbacks of this generation and potentially in NFL history.

With the opportunity to learn from Stafford, Simpson has the ability to grasp McVay's offense at a much higher level as well as understand what it takes to be a successful NFL quarterback in terms of preparation and overall habits, among other factors.

Heading into camp, learning from Stafford will be great for Simpson, but he will still have to prove he can perform at a high level to beat out Bennett for the backup position. On a day-to-day basis, it will demand consistency from the rookie as well as a firm grasp of McVay's offense so he can process what the defense is doing in addition to where he needs to put the ball.

This competition between Simpson and Bennett will be one of the biggest position battles through camp and may not have a clear answer until the regular season begins.

However, after signing his deal, Simpson should be fully focused on winning the backup quarterback job behind Stafford so he can develop and hopefully become the Rams' next franchise quarterback.
