Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum is primed for a major role out of the backfield in 2026.

Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum has turned heads throughout the first week-plus of training camp, and offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase has taken notice.

Scheelhaase spoke to reporters after Wednesday’s practice and said he’s looking forward to seeing how much of a step Corum takes in 2026.

"I think what you've seen from Blake is a guy that has a whole lot of confidence and what he's been able to build on from last year," Scheelhaase said.

“I think seeing the growth from year one to year two for him, obviously, we were all fired up to see that come to life on the field," Scheelhaase added.

All eyes were on Corum a few weeks before training camp began.

Corum went viral with his insane workouts, in which he challenged his body like never before. His workouts included exercises to improve his agility, endurance, and elusiveness

The Rams running back looked explosive in the video, with one leg against a resistance band attached to a squat rack.

That was just one of the many intense workouts Corum underwent before making his way to training camp.

When asked whether Scheelhaase had seen Corum's viral workout videos, he said he'd have to ask his wife, admitting he doesn't spend much time on social media.

“I’m not on the Instagram or something like that, I need to ask my wife. I’m not on Instagram like that.”

Through the first week-plus of training camp, Corum is one of the many bright spots for the Rams.

Kyren Williams will likely be the lead back for the Rams throughout the season. However, Corum could work his way into a bigger role.

Williams admitted Corum looks more explosive compared to last season. Corum finished the 2025 season strong, recording 746 yards on 145 rush attempts, a big boost from his rookie season, where he only had 58 rush attempts. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry in 2025.

As for Williams, he rushed theball 259 times in 2025, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

Corum logged 332 offensive snaps in 2025, accounting for 29 percent of the Rams' offensive plays. His workload is expected to increase significantly in 2026.

It’ll take a lot for Corum to eventually take over with Williams on the scene, and part of that has to do with the business side of football. Williams is in the first year of his recent contract extension, while Corum has two years left on his rookie deal.

While Williams remains firmly entrenched as the Rams' top running back, Corum has a legitimate opportunity to carve out a much larger role and shift the backfield toward a 50/50 split.

The Rams' backfield is projected to be one of the top units in football. Last season, Williams and Corum ranked seventh in rushing offense, averaging 126.6 yards per game and notching over 2,000+ rushing yards.
