The Los Angeles Rams are bringing on one of their former Super Bowl champions to the coaching staff for the 2026 season.
The Los Angeles Rams announced that they are bringing back Super Bowl champion wide receiver Robert Woods.
Woods has been added to Sean McVay's coaching staff as an assistant wide receivers coach.
Other notable coaching moves by L.A. included naming Nat Scheelhaase as the new offensive coordinator and Kliff Kingsbury as assistant head coach.
This news comes less than a week after Woods announced his retirement.
Woods shared this heartfelt message with his fans on his personal Instagram account.
“After 27 unforgettable years of pouring my heart into this game, and the 13 incredible years in the NFL — It’s time for me to step away from playing the sport that has given me everything. Football has never just been a game to me — it’s been my passion, my purpose, and my life long dream. I cherished every moment my cleats touched the grass. Every time I stepped onto the field, I was determined to leave a piece of myself in every snap.
“I always wanted my presence to be felt — by my teammates, but my opponents, by every one watching. I competed with everything I had, willing to do whatever it took to finish the job and bring home the win. Lifting the Lombardi Trophy and becoming a Super Bowl champion was held onto as a child, and having the blessing to reach to and win one in 2022 is something I will treasure forever.
“None of this would be possible without the incredible teammates who battle to be beside me, the coaches who believed in me, and the training and strength steps who pushed me to be my very best. Thank you for trusting me, supporting me, and helping turn my dreams into reality.
“To the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles, Rams, Tennessee, Titans, Houston, Texans, and Pittsburgh Steelers — thank you for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream at the highest level.
“To the best fans in the world — thank you for your own support, your energy, and your belief in me through my journey.
“Most importantly, to my wife, my children and my entire family thank you for being my foundation. There are no words that can truly express my gratitude. Everything I accomplished on the field was made possible because of the support, prayers and believe he poured into me every single day. This game gave me memories, brotherhood, and a legacy I am forever proud of. I walk away deeply grateful and fulfilled.
"With love and gratitude,
"Robert Woods."
Over 12 NFL seasons, Woods recorded 683 receptions for 8,233 receiving yards, averaging 12.1 yards per catch. The former USC standout also totaled 38 touchdowns and posted a 52.2 percent receiving success rate, carving out a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable wideouts during his prime.
The Bills selected Woods with the 41st overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but he spent the bulk of his career with the Rams.
