The Los Angeles Rams have had quite the offseason.
It's been a hot start thus far, upgrading their secondary in a major way. Los Angeles knew their cornerback positions were the weakest point of the team (or at least one of the weakest points), and they wasted no time adding reinforcements.
The Rams traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie last Wednesday and just signed top free agent cornerback Jaylen Watson.
What was once one of the Rams’ weakest position groups has suddenly become one of their strengths. Many believed Los Angeles would target a cornerback in the draft, but after adding two premier players at the position, the team’s draft strategy has become much clearer.
The Rams will likely add a wide receiver or an offensive lineman with their 13th pick in this year's NFL Draft. L.A. has a clear need in both departments.
Los Angeles may have two of the best wide receivers in the league on their roster: Puka Nacua and Davante Adams; however, it's clear they need more depth, particularly a wide receiver No. 3 on their roster.
Tutu Atwell was never productive with the team and is set to be a free agent. On top of that, the other options Los Angeles has in-house have never been able to make their mark as a true WR3 behind Nacua and Adams.
They could very easily address that need in the draft, as they'll have a variety of options to choose from. The Rams will have their pick, from USC's Makai Lemon, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, Ohio State's Carnell Tate, to Washington's Denzel Boston. The Rams have a wide range of pass catchers to choose from.
If the Rams want to go in the offensive line direction, that'd be fine as well. The team has a clear need in that department as well, as they have a chance to secure tackle depth and prepare for the future.
The offensive line for the Rams is aging and has impending free agents; targeting a younger, versatile tackle would be crucial to protect Matthew Stafford. Stafford is set to enter his age-38 season in the NFL, and making sure his jersey is clean each and every Sunday, it is key for Los Angeles to keep him upright.
Some of the options the team will have to choose from are Miami's Francis Mauigoa, Utah's Spencer Fano, Clemson's Blake Miller, and Alabama's Kadyn Proctor, to name a few.
Whatever direction Les Snead and the Rams decide to go in, it appears the team is treating the 2026 season as another chance to go all-in on a Super Bowl appearance and victory.
