Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead goes in-depth on what it took to trade for superstar edge rusher Myles Garrett.

The Los Angeles Rams traded for one of the best players in the NFL and a generational talent in pass rusher, Myles Garrett.

However, it did not come without a cost. The Rams had to trade away their former first-round pick and two-time Pro Bowler, Jared Verse. That was one of the last things that the Rams and their general manager, Les Snead, had trouble pulling the trigger with.

"You know, he's one of the few first-rounders that we've drafted over the last decade. And I believe he's exceeded that 19th pick, you know, in kind of what he's done on the field," Snead said. "And he's been a big part of what we've been able to accomplish the last three years. So, we did not want to trade Jared Verse. But in the end, that is what it took."

Snead ultimately pulled the trigger for Garrett, something any other general manager would have done for a player of his caliber.

Nonetheless, it was tough to see Verse go.

Verse had established himself as a very good pass rusher in his two seasons in Los Angeles. He was named to the Pro Bowl twice while putting up great numbers, including 12 sacks, five forced fumbles, three passes defended, 124 total tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 45 quarterback hits.

On top of that, the 25-year-old won the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.

The Rams drafted the Ohio native 19th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Los Angeles used their first-round pick for the first time since 2016 to draft Verse.

While he was an older player coming out of college, the Rams felt like he could fit right in with the team, and they were right.

While Verse has done great work in the league, his time in the league is not comparable to Garrett's.

Garrett is a future first ballot Hall of Famer. The 30-year-old is arguably the best player in the league and certainly the best defensive player.

Just this past season, Garrett set the NFL single-season sack record by recording 23 sacks, surpassing the previous record of 22.5 previously held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt.

That record cemented another Defensive Player of the Year award. He’s collected all the individual awards one player can get; the only thing missing is that elusive Super Bowl title.

Garrett has a great chance to do just that with the Rams this upcoming season.
