Rams have ruled out Davante Adams for finale vs Cardinals cover image

The Los Angeles Rams will not be playing Davante Adams in the season finale vs. the Arizona Cardinals.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams has been working his way back to action after re-aggravating his hamstring injury. Despite looking good in pregame workouts ahead of Week 17, he was ruled out.

Adams was then upgraded to questionable heading into Week 18 for the matchup against the Cardinals, but he has now been ruled out.

It is not shocking that the Rams are allowing Adams to rest for an additional week, as he will be relied upon heavily in the playoffs. Instead of him potentially facing a setback ahead of the postseason, he will instead remain out.

Additionally, tight end Terrance Ferguson has also been ruled out. Ferguson was added late to the injury report with a hamstring injury, and the Rams are likely playing it safe with him as well.

Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated that playoff seeding would not play a part in starters playing in the finale, but it appears multiple starters will get some extra rest time by virtue of current injuries.

Apart from Adams and Ferguson, the Rams will also be without Kevin Dotson.

Several other starters are also questionable, such as Blake Corum and Kyren Williams. McVay did indicate that Williams will play, but Corum may still be made inactive.

Los Angeles is only playing for playoff seeding at this point, and they have a chance to move into the fifth seed with a win.

The fifth seed would set the Rams up with the winner of the NFC South, which will be either the Carolina Panthers or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The outcome of the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons will determine the division winner.

Should the Rams lose to the Cardinals, they will remain as the sixth seed, setting them up to face either the Chicago Bears or Philadelphia Eagles.

Strategically, it would likely be better for the Rams to beat the Cardinals and take on either the Panthers or the Buccaneers. Any opponent is dangerous in the playoffs, but the NFC South has certainly been up-and-down in 2025.

Either way, the Rams are getting healthier, and more of their stars will be ready to play for the first game of the playoffs. Whoever their opponent is, having Adams and Ferguson back will help immensely.
