Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has been ranked the highest on latest rankings.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is one of the most respected at his position, and his success on the field has been well-known. Through nine seasons, he has posted a 92-57 overall record, seven playoff berths, and a Super Bowl championship.

All eyes will be on the Rams and McVay in 2026, as the team looks to make it to the big show. Ahead of the season, the Los Angeles head coach has received a top ranking on Pro Football Focus.

Despite Kansas City Chiefs' Andy Reid having more Super Bowls to his name, McVay takes the top spot. PFF writer Bradley Locker indicates its due to his playcalling and the Rams having huge EPA success.

"What makes McVay unparalleled is his ability to blend game-planning with team success. Calling the offensive shots, McVay has propelled Los Angeles to three top-six finishes in EPA per play over the last five years. Most impressively, McVay has displayed an aptitude to evolve — such as going from more of a wide zone scheme to ushering in Matthew Stafford’s gunslinging mentality in 2021 to pioneering more of a 13-personnel approach in 2025," Locker wrote.

McVay continues to be at the forefront of NFL organizations in trusting younger coaches. The wave of youth has certainly led to more youthful minds getting a chance to lead teams.

Despite losing out on the Super Bowl in 2025, the Rams were a force that was powered by Matthew Stafford and company. Now, Los Angeles has done everything to ensure their past mistakes are not repeated.

Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson were brought in to shore up a weak secondary, and the blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett will lead to a complete defensive overhaul. Stafford also chose to play again, meaning the offense has a chance to be just as special.

Leading the way is McVay, whose preparation has led to many successful seasons. Granted, there have been some struggles for the team, such as the 2022 season, where they went 5-12, but that was an outlier in the grand scheme of things.

There is a strong chance the Rams will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl, but a lot must still go right to ensure that happens. One way that can happen is if McVay learns from what occurred against the Seattle Seahawks in 2025.

There will also be no excuses for the team in 2026. McVay will be judged even more harshly if the Rams cannot get over the hump of missing out on the big show, and will be praised even more if Los Angeles experiences the same success.
