Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay admitted at the owner's meetings that Davante Adams has come up in trade talks.
In a very surprising omission, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed that the team had trade talks involving Davante Adams. While that would but the team at a major deficit in the pass catching department, it would be interesting if those talks involved another receiver.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, McVay indicated that he talked to Adams about potential trade talks.
"Sean McVay said he spoke with WR Davante Adams about potential trade talks involving the 33-year-old.
"The HC says he believes it’s important to tell players what’s going on and what was being discussed," Russini wrote on X.
She also indicated McVay followed that up with, "We are glad he's a Ram."
Adams is 33 years old, and the presumption was that he would finish out his career as a member of the Rams. However, the team also has the No. 13 overall pick, and could use that to find a much younger counterpart.
Los Angeles has been mocked to take USC's Makai Lemon, Arizona State's Jordyn Tyson, and even trading up to select Ohio State's Carnell Tate.
Any one of those three young wide receivers would pair well with Puka Nacua, who continues to prove he is one of the best at the position. Adams is still a viable deepfield threat and red zone threat, as he caught a league-leading 14 touchdowns in 2025.
The issue is that Adams dealt with a lingering hamstring injury that led to his missing multiple games in 2025. The health of the 33-year-old could have been a major factor in the Rams' trading him.
An interesting aspect of Adams being discussed in trade talks could lead back to the rumors that the Rams were attempting to land disgruntled Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown.
Both Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni indicated that Brown will remain on the team, but things are never quite ironclad when it comes to trade.
If the Rams offered Adams and draft capital in a swap for Brown, that might be enough to sway the Eagles brass to agree. This is just speculation, but engaging in trade talks for Adams is oddly timed.
Either way, if the Rams were to trade Adams to any team, that would almost guarantee the team would be aiming to draft a replacement with the No. 13 overall pick, as the players beyond Nacua and Adams left a lot to be desired in 2025.
