Now that the Los Angeles Rams' season has come to an unfortunate end, all eyes are toward the 2026 NFL Season and what changes the Rams can make to get to the Super Bowl next year.
There are plenty of questions regarding the Rams' roster, with key players like quarterback Matthew Stafford and offensive lineman Rob Havenstein questioning retirement and multiple others facing free agency.
One such free agent is safety Kam Curl, who has been an integral part of the Rams' defense and had the best season of his career this year, recording 122 combined tackles (79 solo), five pass deflections, two interceptions, two sacks, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and one forced fumble across 17 games.
Curl carried this excellent play into the postseason, leading the league with 27 combined tackles and 15 solo tackles. Additionally, he had one interception, two quarterback hits, and two pass deflections.
Naturally, this has experts saying that Curl is one of the top free agents heading into the 2026 NFL Season. This includes Matt Bowen of ESPN, who ranked Curl as the 41st best free agent available.
"A durable defender who has played in at least 16 games over his past three seasons, Curl can limit vertical throws in the deep areas of the field," Bowen said. "He's also a strong tackler in the run front, finishing with a career-high 122 tackles this season (along with two interceptions and two sacks)."
This sentiment was echoed by Sarah Barshop of ESPN, who said that Curl was the most important re-signing decision for the Rams this offseason.
"The Rams didn't have a long list of free agents entering the preseason, and that list got even shorter after they re-signed running back Kyren Williams, inside linebacker Nate Landman and safety Quentin Lake during training camp or the season," Barshop said.
"Curl, who signed a two-year deal with the Rams in 2024, is now Los Angeles' biggest free agent decision. Curl had the biggest interception of the season for the Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Chicago Bears, picking off quarterback Caleb Williams' pass in overtime."
Needless to say, the Rams would be better off if they retained Curl on their roster. He led the team in solo tackles this past season and has proven that he can make key plays in big moments.
No matter where he winds up, Curl will be a valuable addition to any team.
