Los Angeles Rams linebacker Omar Speights has left the game against the 49ers with an apparent injury.

The Los Angeles Rams are taking on the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, and a significant injury has already occurred.

Well into the first quarter, linebacker Omar Speights appeared to suffer an injury. It was not initially known when the injury occurred, but he was seen being taken to the locker room following the incident.

Per reports, Speights suffered a hip injury, and is now questionable to return.

Speights appeared to look like he was limping, but no injury has not been revealed thus yet.

Losing Speights would be a big blow to the Rams' defense, as he is the inside linebacker who lines up alongside Nate Landman. Should Speights be ruled out, it will be Shaun Dolac or Grant Stuard who will need to step up.

One of the only roster holes or bigger roster questions was which linebacker would step up to help Landman, and Speights was set to be that player. However, an injury will clearly complicate that fact.

The silver lining for the Los Angeles roster is there are plenty of other defensive players who can step up to continue getting after San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

What is a bigger issue for the Rams is Purdy and the 49ers offense has been attacking the middle of the field in a big way. Intermediate passes have been the Achilles heel of this new defense.

With Landman and Speights to be part of the middle of the field coverage, an injury to that unit is certainly going to impact that part of the plan.

Thus far, the Rams and 49ers have been back-and-forth, with the game turning into a defensive showdown.

Rams safety Quentin Lake pulled off a huge interception on Purdy, which was coupled with Matthew Stafford throwing one of his own.

There is plenty more game left to play, and this can go either way. This is a huge divisional game, and both teams are playing hard.

With Speights out, it has also been reported that Dulac is stepping in as the inside linebacker next to Landman.

Speights could return to the game, but it all depends on how significant the hip injury is that he suffered in the game.
