Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Cobie Durant will head to Dallas.
Durant has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cowboys.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler shared the news via X.
Durant spent the first four seasons of his career in Los Angeles. He's been tremendous for the team in his tenure and is coming off arguably the best season of his career.
The 28-year-old played in all 17 games in 2025 and started in 15 of them. He recorded three interceptions, 40 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and seven passes defended.
In three playoff games this past season, Durant recorded eight total tackles, three interceptions, which he returned for 25 yards, and seven passes defended.
Durant has a total of seven interceptions in his career, returning two of them for touchdowns.
The Cowboys were in desperate need of help at cornerback, especially with DaRon Bland recovering from foot surgery and second-year cornerback Shavon Revel working his way back from a torn ACL. Dallas was able to address that need by landing one of the top cornerbacks available in this free agency cycle.
Meanwhile, the need for Durant in Los Angeles had diminished. The Rams had already made significant upgrades to the position by trading for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie and signing Jaylen Watson. Both players come from the Kansas City Chiefs and bring valuable experience from competing in meaningful playoff games throughout their careers.
Nonetheless, the loss of Durant could be impactful and hurt the team's depth. The South Carolina native is a highly productive, ball-hawking cornerback who did great work for the Rams in his tenure.
Los Angeles took a chance on the cornerback from the mid-major in South Carolina State. The Rams selected Durant with the 142nd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
In his career, Durant has appeared in 61 games (39 starts) and recorded 141 tackles (96 solo), 26 passes defended, 2.0 sacks, six tackles for loss, two defensive touchdowns, five quarterback hits, and seven interceptions with 211 return yards.
During the 2024 playoffs, Durant became the first cornerback in franchise history to record a sack. The cornerback recorded a sack and an interception in the same defensive series, becoming the third player in franchise history to record at least one sack and one interception in a postseason game.
Los Angeles may have lost Durant, but they've upgraded the cornerback position this offseason, a position group they desperately needed to make major changes in.
