Rams make two practice squad elevations for NFC Championship cover image

The Los Angeles Rams have elevated DE Larrell Murchison and ILB Elias Neal for the NFC Championship.

The Los Angeles Rams have made two practice squad elevations in preparation for the NFC Championship against the Seattle Seahawks.

Posted to the team's official X page, the Rams have elevated defensive end Larrell Murchinson and linebacker Elias Neal for the game.

Though these are some standard elevations, they do come with some small concerns.

The only player who is in danger of missing the NFC Championship is linebacker Byron Young. Young emerged on the injury report with a knee injury, but Rams head coach Sean McVay indicated that he was still expected to play.

Young may still be in line to play, and the Rams' elevating both Murchinson and Neal could simply be for insurance. Then again, Young missed Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday.

Apart from Young, no other player on the injury report is coming into the Seahawks matchup with a concerning injury designation.

The Rams will release their inactives list around two hours ahead of the NFC Championship, so there will be some more clarity regarding the elevations and if Young cannot suit up due to his knee.

As stated, McVay indicated that Young would be out on the field and is "chomping at the bit" to play. That is also not a guarantee that the linebacker did not suffer a significant knee injury.

Los Angeles will need all their players on the field, and that includes Young. Young is a dynamic pass rusher, and his abilities will be needed for the defense to rattle and stop Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.

Darnold has paired with Jaxon Smith-Njigba to create one of the most dynamic quarterback-wide receiver duos similar to Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua.

The Seahawks also have a tough running game. Despite Zach Charbonnet being ruled out, Kenneth Walker III is still a dangerous back. The Rams will need to ensure their pass rush and run-stopping defense are on point to mitigate Seattle's ability to stretch the field.

Both teams met in the regular season twice, splitting the series 1-1. Even more impressive is that both games were decided by a field goal or less.

Having Young will allow the Rams to stop the Seahawks' defense. His absence would be a big hit to the Los Angeles defense.

Young has not been ruled out, and the elevations are just depth for the Rams thus far. More information will be revealed ahead of the game on Sunday.
