Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford dropped a major update on his retirement plans.
The Los Angeles Rams are rolling. The team is 10-3, and is back in first place of the NFC conference.
After a dominant 45-17 win, the Rams rebounded in a big way due to the play from the current MVP favorite, Matthew Stafford. Stafford has been playing an incredible brand of football, leading to the question of whether he plans to retire after 2025.
Stafford joined "The Rich Eisen Show" to discuss retirement, offering a major update on his retirement plans.
Rich Eisen asked Stafford, "Are you already thinking that this could be it? Or is this not the end, because you are playing too well to even think about it?"
"I feel really good," Stafford said.
"You gotta finish out a season and see where it takes you. I am enjoying every moment I have right now. If I end the year healthy, hypothetically, and all those kinda of things. Sure, I would surely entertain coming back and playing some more. We'll see how it goes. I am just enjoying where my feet are right now. Having a blast playing ball with this group. We'll figure out the future when we get there," Stafford said.
Stafford is playing lights out right now. He currently has 3,354 yards, 35 touchdowns, and four interceptions. This includes a 113.1 passer rating.
Stafford's 35 touchdowns lead the league, as does his passer rating.
Stafford remains the MVP favorite, and he is likely going to be a shoo-in for the award if he continues to play in the manner he has all season.
Granted, he threw two interceptions against the Carolina Panthers, but that was an isolated incident. He has still only thrown four all season.
What makes Stafford's year even more impressive is that he was dealing with back issues throughout training camp, which called into question his overall health and longevity. He is 37 years old, which is considered old in terms of playing in the NFL.
Regardless, he continues to showcase why he remains one of the best signal callers in the league.
