Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has dive-bombed in the latest quarterback ranking.
The Los Angeles Rams dropped a big game to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. Despite the fact that they lost to a divisional rival, the lopsided 27-7 score pointed to a team that simply was not ready.
One of the glaring issues that the Rams had was quarterback Matthew Stafford, who looked to be out of sorts the entire game. Stafford has now dive-bombed in the latest quarterback rankings.
Despite the fact that head coach Sean McVay did not want to place blame on the travel plan, it looked as though the team was sluggish, including Stafford.
Stafford is known for his accuracy, and he was seen sailing passes over the heads of his receivers. Despite Puka Nacua having a solid performance of 74 yards on five receptions, he would have had a bigger game had there not been multiple errant throws.
With Stafford struggling much like the entire Rams team did, he has now dive-bombed in the latest quarterback rankings.
Per NFL.com's Nick Shook, Stafford started at No. 2 in Week 1, but has since plummeted to No. 11 in Week 2.
Stafford ended his day with 155 yards and one interception on 15-for-25 attempts. He also posted a 61.2 passer rating.
These are categorically low numbers for the Rams quarterback, but it wasn't the worst performance. That is why Stafford has not dropped too far out of the top 10.
It is also one game, and Los Angeles is likely to bounce back in a big way.
The Rams do have another tough test in the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, as the Giants looked good in their debut under new head coach John Harbaugh.
One of the ways that the 49ers capitalized on the Rams was the constant pressure they were able to put on the offense and Stafford. The Giants have the ability to do the same thing with DJ Reader, Brian Burns, and Arvell Reese.
Oddly enough, the Giants were not able to generate any sacks on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, but they still pulled off the win.
That said, Stafford and the offense will need to have a big turnaround to not only keep the team from dropping to 0-2 on the season, but also from losing more ground in the race in the NFC.
Granted, it is far too early to be considering the playoffs, but every loss to a conference rival could pose big issues near the end of the season.
